Farnesina Secretary-General, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, met with Polish Ambassdor Anna Maria Anders in Rome

Farnesina Secretary-General, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, met today in Rome with Poland’s Ambassador, Anna Maria Anders, to exchange views on the war in Ukraine, on energy security in Europe and on how the two countries can cooperate to counter disinformation.

Ambassador Sequi and Ambassador Anders stressed once again the importance of the financial, military and humanitarian support provided to Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion, and added they hope an effective coordination will stay in place ahead of the reconstruction phase. The Secretary-General also praised Poland’s important contribution, given that it is country that has given shelter to the largest number of Ukrainian refugees and that it is the major transit hub for humanitarian aid to be delivered to Ukraine.

Ambassador Sequi and Ambassador Anders agreed that it is important for EU countries to keep on coordinating closely to counter the problem of disinformation.

Finally, Ambassador Sequi and Ambassador Anders also agreed on the need for the EU to have an ambitious approach and achieve autonomy in terms of energy security. Such a strategy should also include innovative solutions capable of curbing price rises.
