“Unbinding Creatures. Organismo 10” (2021) by Camilla Alberti (Milan, 1994) is one of the recent acquisitions of the Farnesina Collection.
The artist has always worked on relationships and on the hybridization options between different living species and the surrounding space. The series of sculptures and installations – titled “Unbinding Creatures” – reflects “the potential of imagination evoked by monsters”, as the artist herself writes, drawing inspiration from an urban archaeological operation envisaging the reclaim of discarded objects, industrial waste, and anthropic artefacts manipulated by the sea or by time.
These materials engage in a dialogue in the construction of sculptures with almost organic shapes, which recalls the “complexity of ecosystems” and open “the contemporary scene to accepting this complexity, passing through a continuing metamorphosis.”
