Week of the Italian language: an opera concert in historic center of Jeddah

On the occasion of the 19th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Consulate General of Italy in Jeddah organized, in the historic city of Jeddah on October 21st, an opera concert by a trio of young Italian talents (the tenor Matteo Desole, the soprano Bianca Tognocchi and the maestro Andrea Solinas on the piano), accompanied by the actor Davide Marranchelli. The artists presented to the Saudi public a selection of the most famous “arias” of Italian opera (from Donizetti to Verdi, from Puccini to Mascagni), interspersed with explanations on the language used in the libretto. The performance was very much appreciated by the audience consisting of people who attended an opera representation for the very first time.

This was a “historic” moment in Jeddah, since this was the very first time that a Western music concert was authorized to take place in the open, in a public place accessible to everyone. This is as yet further evidence of the great cultural and social changes taking place in the Country under Vision 2030, which sees Italy at the top of the list of its cultural partners.
