Minister Bonino meets the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Linas Linkevicius

Foreign Minister Emma Bonino met the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevicius, at the Farnesina today, 16 January 2014.


Their discussion focused on European affairs and our priorities for the the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of this year. The two ministers also examined possible forms of collaboration between Italy and Lithuania in the United Nations system, where Vilnius chairs the Counter-Terrorism Committee and is a non-permanent member of the Security Council.


Minister Bonino and Minister Linkevicius had a useful exchange of views on the outlook for the Eastern Partnership, including in light of the outcome of the Vilnius Summit in November 2013.


Lastly, Minister Bonino gave her Lithuanian colleague an assessment of migrant flows in the Mediterranean Basin and the problems connected with terrorist infiltration.
