From 15th to 21st June 2020, the third edition of “Fare Cinema” will take place, a review of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation that promotes Italian cinema and the film industry of our country in the world.

Realized in collaboration with RAI, MiBACT, Italian Trade Agency, Istituto Luce-Cinecittà and ANICA, for the first time the festival will be distributed entirely in digital format all over the world on the RaiPlay platform, thanks to the collaboration between MAECI and RAI.

The programme includes an unprecedented offer of content dedicated to the Italian cinema and film industry, subtitled in English, French and Spanish: masterclasses by two great experts in Italian cinema (Gianni Canova and Gianfranco Angelucci), video lectures by film professionals, films and short films to celebrate Italian cinema and its professions. Actors, directors, and screenwriters, but also editors, cinematographers, composers, costume designers, set designers, casting directors and many others. A heritage of competence and professionalism that contributes to confer the high cultural content that is recognised to our cinema all over the world and that constitutes a real added value of “Made in Italy” cinema.

“Fare Cinema” will also be the occasion to celebrate two important anniversaries in 2020: the centenary of the birth of Federico Fellini and Alberto Sordi. In addition, Saturday, June 20 will be celebrated the first World Film Day of Italian cinema, decided by Parliament last December: the Day will be accompanied by the screening on RaiPlay of the titles of the five “Best Short Film” of the David di Donatello Awards 2020.

“This year’s edition of ‘Making Cinema’ – says Marina Sereni, Deputy Minister with responsibility for the promotion of Italian culture in the world – is special. Among many things, COVID has taken away the joy and pleasure of spending an evening in a theatre watching a film together with others. Reviving the magic and emotions you feel when you go to the cinema is not easy, but you have to do it, to safeguard an art form that has made and still makes our country great in the world. The films, short films, masterclasses and video lessons that we will present in the entirely digital exhibition, without forgetting the homage to Alberto Sordi and Federico Fellini for the centenary of their birth, represent an extraordinary heritage of culture, professionalism and skills that characterize our film and audio-visual industry, which we absolutely do not want to be lost. Culture will in fact play a key role in the projection of a new and stronger narrative of Italy in the world to start again after the health emergency. A narrative to be built also through cinema, which has always been a formidable instrument for the promotion of our country”.

Dal 15 al 21 giugno 2020 si svolgerà la terza edizione di “Fare Cinema”, rassegna del Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale che promuove il cinema italiano e l’industria cinematografica del nostro Paese nel mondo.

Realizzata in collaborazione con RAI, MiBACT, ICE-Agenzia, Istituto Luce-Cinecittà e ANICA, per la prima volta la rassegna sarà distribuita interamente in formato digitale in tutto il mondo sulla piattaforma RaiPlay, grazie alla collaborazione fra MAECI e RAI. 

Il cartellone prevede un’offerta senza precedenti di contenuti dedicati al cinema e all’industria cinematografica italiana, sottotitolati in inglese, francese e spagnolo: masterclass di due grandi esperti di cinema italiano (Gianni Canova e Gianfranco Angelucci), videolezioni di professionisti del cinema, film e cortometraggi per celebrare il cinema italiano e i suoi mestieri. Attori, registi e sceneggiatori, ma anche montatori, direttori della fotografia, compositori, costumisti, scenografi, casting director e tanti altri: un patrimonio di competenza e professionalità che contribuisce a conferire l’alto contenuto culturale che viene riconosciuto al nostro cinema in tutto il mondo e che costituisce un vero e proprio valore aggiunto del cinema “Made in Italy”.

“Fare Cinema” sarà anche l’occasione per celebrare due importanti ricorrenze del 2020: i centenari della nascita di Federico Fellini e di Alberto Sordi. Inoltre, sabato 20 giugno si celebrerà la prima Giornata mondiale del cinema italiano, deliberata dal Parlamento lo scorso dicembre: la Giornata sarà accompagnata dalla visione su RaiPlay dei titoli della cinquina “Miglior cortometraggio” dei Premi David di Donatello 2020. 

“L’edizione di quest’anno di ‘Fare Cinema’ – dichiara Marina Sereni, Vice Ministra con delega alla promozione della cultura italiana nel mondo – è particolare. Tra le tante cose, Covid ci ha tolto la gioia e il piacere di vivere una serata in una sala ad assistere insieme ad altri a un film. Far rivivere la magia e le emozioni che si provano andando al cinema non è facile, ma bisogna farlo, per salvaguardare una forma d’arte che ha reso e rende grande il nostro Paese nel mondo. I film, i cortometraggi, le masterclass e le videolezioni che presenteremo nella rassegna interamente digitale, senza dimenticare l’omaggio ad Alberto Sordi e a Federico Fellini per il centenario della loro nascita, rappresentano un patrimonio straordinario di cultura, professionalità e competenze che caratterizzano la nostra industria cinematografica e dell’audiovisivo, che non vogliamo assolutamente che si disperda. La cultura avrà infatti un ruolo chiave nella proiezione di una nuova e più forte narrazione dell’Italia nel mondo per ripartire dopo l’emergenza sanitaria. Una narrazione da costruire anche attraverso il cinema, da sempre uno strumento formidabile di promozione del nostro Paese”.
