The Director General for Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Giampaolo Cantini, and Giovanni Lelli, Commissioner at the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), signed a Protocol of Understanding today, 17 April 2014, at the Ministry. The agreement is intended to strengthen and provide a framework for on-going collaboration on Development Cooperation initiatives in the fields of energy efficiency, renewables, environment and climate, sustainable development, innovation in the agri-business sector and technical-scientific training.
Support for partner-country policies
The Protocol of Understanding will support sustainable economic development and green economy policies in Development Cooperation partner countries. It will do so by drawing up and implementing programmes and projects in fields such as technology transfer and specialist training.
Energy and sustainable economic development proposals to be drawn up
ENEA will also work with the Directorate General for Development Cooperation to draw up proposals and establish the position to adopt in the energy and sustainable development fields in the post-2015 international framework, including in light of Italian Cooperation’s participation in EXPO 2015.
