Gentiloni-Al Dairy for a national unity government
Italy is intensifying diplomatic efforts toward a political solution to the crisis in Libya. Minister Paolo Gentiloni had a telephone meeting with the foreign minister of the government of Tobruk, Mohamed Al Dairy, during which they confirmed a common commitment to the formation of a national unity government as well as shared concerns over the terrorist presence in Libya.
Gentiloni expressed confidence that the Tobruk parliament would continue to collaborate with the negotiations being led by UN special representative Bernardino Leon.
Meetings with English and Turkish colleagues
The situation in Libya, Italy’s intention to play a role in UN diplomatic efforts and the possible next steps within the framework of both the EU and the UN were the focus of telephone conversations the minister held with his English and Turkish colleagues Philip Hammon and Mevlut Cavusoglu.
