Moldova: Renewability conference, opportunities for Italian firms

Identifying the potential for development in the sector of renewable energy and opportunities for growth for Italian firms were the main objectives of a conference on renewable energies held in Moldova, organised by the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau and the Italo-Moldovan Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Agency for Energy Efficiency. In particular, efforts were made to identify renewable source development thanks to EU and European Bank incentives and investments. A full 60% of Moldova’s current energy imports are accounted for by natural gas, which is very costly for the local population, and only 2.6% by renewable sources (waste and biofuels).
