The new and alarming pressure exerted by Daesh in Libya was at the centre of a telephone conversation held late yesterday evening between Foreign Affairs Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Libya’s Prime Minister-designate Fayez al-Sarraj.
Mr Sarraj expressed to the Italian Government his deep concern for escalating clashes and for the eastward advancement of Sirte-based terrorist units. Mr Gentiloni reiterated Italy’s commitment to fight terrorism and its full support for the stabilisation efforts made by the Presidency Council and the Government of National Accord.
