The evacuation of the numerous contingents of scouts from all over the world gathered in South Korea for the World Scout Jamboree will begin tomorrow, Tuesday 8 August, due to the expected impact of Typhoon Khanun in the area. The Italian Embassy in Seoul, in agreement with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in constant contact with the local authorities, continues to monitor the conditions of the 1,200 Italian scouts participating in the event. They are well and have not reported any critical issues.
In recent days, the more than fifty thousand people who came to the west coast of South Korea for the 25th international annual gathering of scouts have been affected by the adverse weather conditions. For this reason, the Korean government has today ordered the evacuation of the scouts, who will leave the event venue by bus to reach sites and university campuses in the Seoul metropolitan area and other locations in South Korea.
