Italian Cuisine Week: Lisbon hosts a workshop on Cilento specialties

To celebrate the Italian Cuisine Week in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon organised a rich programme of events ranging from lectures to cooking workshops, tastings of typical regional products and events promoting enogastronomic tourism to discover local cultures, starting with the Mediterranean Diet as a healthy lifestyle and balanced eating model within everybody’s reach.

The events will open with a cooking workshop on the specialties of the Cilento region by Chef Michele Giaquinto, who will propose dishes like “lagane e ceci” (wide pasta with chickpeas), “tortino di alici” (anchovy pie) or “riso con fagioli borlotti” (rice with kidney beans). The programme will continue with a meeting with the Director of the Museo Vivente della Dieta Mediterranea and of Mare di Pioppi, Valerio Calabrese, one of the authors of the UNESCO Mediterranean Diet Charter of Values and member of the standing committee at the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf). Then the photography exhibition “Equilibrio Mobile – La persistenza del cibo nella food photography” will open at the Italian Cultural Institute. Another event will be the dinner by Cristian Torsiello, Michelin-star winning Chef of the Osteria Arbustico Restaurant in Paestum that will be hosted at the Portuguese Literary Club, Grémio Litérario. Then, journalist Luciano Pignataro will hold a lecture on the “Cilento Method and the Mediterranean Diet: slowness and longevity”.

The Italian Cuisine Week will close with the customary event dedicated to the children attending the Italian courses, who will take part in the “Viva gli gnocchi” cooking laboratory with Enrico Ranaldi.
