The Embassy of Italy in Zambia has organised a webinar “The ART of managing resources: Land, Forests, Water: paths of cooperation between Italy and Zambia”, on how best to manage natural resources.
The webinar was attended by two ministers of the Zambian government – the Minister for the Green Economy and the Minister for Small-Medium Enterprises Development – to create an opportunity for the new Zambian leadership to meet some representatives of the Italian business world who are interested in Zambia for future industrial collaborations in the recycling, water conservation and forestry sectors, or in innovation to combat climate change. The REDD+ project by Bio Carbon Partners and Eni was also presented, and a number of Italian and Zambian companies were introduced as examples of best practice in natural resource conservation and environmental protection.
A space was dedicated to the relationship between art and environmental conservation, with the presence of some significant contemporary artists working between Zambia and Italy. The art historian Costantino D’Orazio offered a hybrid webinar involving the artist Matteo Montani, who has been the protagonist of many “Italy abroad” exhibitions and whose work is included in the Collection of the Italian Embassy in Lusaka.
