The Middle East crisis and the situation in Libya were the main topics of discussion in Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini’s telephone meeting today with Arab League secretary Nabil Elaraby. Mogherini assured Italy’s support for the plan drafted by Egypt and the Arab League for a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel, and she and Elaraby discussed the steps to be taken to relaunch the political process and to achieve a two-State solution.
With regard to Libya, the Minister and Arab League secretary agreed on the need to halt the violence, convene an urgent meeting of the parliament and form a government by which, not least, to confront the problems of border control and immigration
