On the occasion of World Food Day (WFD), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in partnership with the International Organisations based in Rome, will organise the concert with the theme “Share Music, Change the Future”. The concert will be performed by the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio on 16 October at 9 p.m. at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and will feature pieces drawn from “L’isola di Legno: quindici anni di Viaggi e Incontri Musicali” and from “The Magic Flute according to the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio”. The Concert will be presented by Milly Carlucci.
“This year’s theme for the World Food Day couldn’t be more topical: investing in food security and in sustainable agricultural development as an effective means of combating the phenomenon of forced migration,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano. He went on: “Italy, together with the Rome-based UN food and agriculture Agencies team, is doing its share to reverse today’s trend which shows that almost 800 million people suffer from hunger. It is an enormous challenge that bears witness to the Italian Cooperation service’s commitment through its numerous inclusive and sustainable development initiatives aimed at combating hunger but that also needs a greater effort by everybody.”
The Concert will close a very important Day dedicated to food security, hosted at the FAO offices in Rome in the morning of 16 October, that saw the extraordinary participation of the Holy Father, who has wanted to convey a message aimed at raising public awareness on the issue of food security.
