The Tuscan Architectural Award exhibition in Tirana

Winning projects of the Tuscan Architectural Award are being shown at an exhibition hosted by the Romanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, in association with the Italian Cultural Institute. The exhibition can be visited from 5 to 30 December. Its aim is to stimulate debate on contemporary architecture and give a picture of the regional scenario between 2012 and 2017.

The Regional Council of Tuscany, the Architects’ Association of Florence and Pisa, the Federation of Tuscan Architects, the Foundation of Architects of Florence and ANCE Tuscany conceived this project and organised it into five categories: first work; new construction work; restoration or renovation work; interior design work; and work on public landscapes and regeneration.

An international jury, which included Marco De Michelis, Sandy Attia, João Luís Carrilho da Graça, Simone Sfriso of TAM associati and Guido Borelli, chose a short list of twenty works out of a total of 150 participants, with five overall winners in each category.  The President of the Regional Council, Eugenio Giani, said that “an architectural prize is a crucial element in the transformation of a territory, needed to support best practices and environmental and civil innovation. It may also help encourage many young Tuscan professionals in the development of their careers”. He hoped that “the Prize would become a reference point for architectural culture at national level”.
